Ji'Robert had speech today and he is doing pretty good. This past week he started repeating back just about anything that you request him to say and he's randomly repeating back a lot without being asked as well. The independent words are still slow to come but he's ranking them up! A week and a half ago we started a list on the fridge. We started fresh and from that Sunday until now we've been writing down anytime he says an independent word. So to qualify as independent, he either has to point, pick up, or some how identify an item with the word, he has to answer when you say "what is that", he has to associate the word with the appropriate action (i.e., up), or he has to say the correct word when asked a question (i.e., what does a pig say).
So our list is up to 22: coat, mine, up, meow, bye bye, help, cracker, ball, neigh, baa, sissy, dada, all done, ow, please, frisbee, car, woof woof, stuck, no no, & hi
So we will continue to work with him and speech therapy. Even though it looks like he is saying a lot, he only says about 3-5 words a day and uses them a lot and then may not say them again for a while. They still want to do another hearing test so I need to call and get that set up.
I'm guessing now that he's repeating back a lot more that he hopefully will start picking up more words a little faster!
