I went home last night to do Addy's hair and on my way there I realized it was Addys first swim class day! So off we went. We are taking the class with three of our good friends and their little fishys! Addy enjoyed it. The water was pretty warm but Addy lips were still quivering a little bit. She splashed, played with a ball, and enjoyed the water. Hopefully Jared will come next week and take a couple pictures of our little waterbug!
Then it was back home for a bath and hair night. I have been missing Addy like crazy and apparently she has been missing me too! She says mommy all the time and at daycare even says mommy while looking for me! SO CUTE!!! So I think mommy is her first official consistant word! It was nice to spend a little time with both Jared and Addy before heading back to be with my parents. Hopefully Addy will be able to visit once both of my parents are out of the hospital and home. Things are going pretty well but keep the prayers coming for our family.

How fast time flies!
As of this past Wednesday, February 18th, Miss Addy J has been home for a whole year!!!! The year has gone by SO fast and I cannot believe how much she has changed and grown over the months.
Last year after meeting Addy's birthmom, we decided to take custody of Addy a week later so that we would have a little time to prepare our home for our new addition. We went up to the agency and met with our birth parent counselor and birth mom to do our contact agreement and to sign all of the official forms. After lunch, Jared and I went to the foster families home to meet our daughter. It was the most exciting time! She was asleep when we got there in the foster moms arms and she passed her over to me as she was waking up. It was the most amazing feeling to hold my baby for the first time. I had a permanent smile on my face and we were both in awe of how perfect and beautiful she was. We both held her and spent about an hour at their home learning about the eight weeks that she had spent with them. We packed her into her carseat and headed home. Jared drove and I sat in the back seat next to her, and watched her sleep the whole way home. We called our families and let them know that we had her with us and were offically being our lives as 3 instead of just 2.
As I look back at the last year, I cannot imagine loving someone so much and cannot imagine life without her. We are loving being parentss and are so blessed to have such an amazing little girl for a daughter. We got to see all of her firsts and watch her figure out how the world works and watch her grow into a little person with such personality! We love her to bits and couldn't be happier with how life happens when it is supposed to.

Girly girl?
I was hoping for a girly girl... a gymnast, a ballerina, a sweet little foofoo girl... and things are looking grim.... SHE LOVES BASKETBALL!! Too funny! We went to Jareds game tonight and afterwards she climbed down the bleachers to the basketball court, ran (and I mean RAN) to the rack of basketballs, picked one off the rack and ran halfway across the gym carrying it.... twice across the gym, then threw a fit when I picked her up and wanted to go back to the rack to get a ball!
I guess Jared is having a bigger influence than I thought! Or maybe because we go to every home game that she is a little sponge learning what all the boys are doing!
And then I realized that I was also participating in the learning of disc golf! I got that cute little frisbee basket for Jared and her to play with and now am realizing that she is getting pretty good and will be spending her summer with Jared on the frisbee course. What was I thinking!
I guess when she is a little older we will have to take a mommy and me dance or gymnastic class together!
Speaking of classes, Addy and I are taking a mommy and me swim class with three other friends and their babes. We are excited to start that and see how it goes. Addy loves water so hopefully the pool is warm so we both enjoy it!

Spring is coming!
With the nice weather coming, Jared has been prepping Addy on proper Disc Golf technique!
ETA: it has been brought to my attention that the video is only a few minutes and the music continues for 6... OOPS! Guess I didn't edit the movie right! Better luck next time... so in the meantime, enjoy 3 minutes of frisbee and extra music!

A Life Changing Day.... one year ago
It was one year ago today that we met Addy's birth mom and were asked to parent this amazing little girl.
We had met my family for dinner to celebrate my dads birthday and didn't tell anyone that we were meeting a birthmom just in case things didn't work out. We left dinner and went to a book store to kill some time. We then went to the agency and had the most amazing meeting ever with the sweetest, nicest birthmom. On the way home we were exstatic, anxious, nervous, and in disbelief. In one meeting our life was to be changed forever. We called everyone on the way home and told them about our new addition. We stopped at Babies R Us which was having a special invite only sale for my employer and got a big coupon book which would come in handy. And the whirlwind week began.
We had one week to prepare to bring our baby home! Poor Jared had basketball games, tournaments, and practice EVERY NIGHT that week so I was on my own to prepare. Good thing I have amazing friends and family to help out! I had two different friends take me to register for baby stuff, tons of friends brought over hand me downs and baby stuff to borrow, I went online and ordered bedding and a crib and a changing table, and started planning. It was a good thing that I had started two files months earlier, one for everything I liked for a boy and one for everything I liked for a girl, sure made it easier to pick things out on short notice! That weekend my parents and sister came and helped us relocate our spare bedroom, paint the babies room, install lighting and curtains, and helped clean our house. And then that Monday February 18th, on Presidents Day we brought our baby home!
Stay tuned for more of our story!

Piggy, Toothage, and hair
Bad Mommy.... Ok, so my child may need therapy someday but after weighing the benefits and risks we decided to get a backpack animal buddy tether. We wont be using it much (if at all) but due to Addy wanting to walk most of the time and her inopportune talent for taking off at a full run, my inability to run next to her bending in half to hold her hand, and my fear of having a panic attack when I look the otherway for half a second and her dissappearing under a clothing rack, I decided to bite the bullet of a million nasty comments and stares and get a safety harness. Say what you like, but I would much rather know where she is and have her safely at my side. Plus with my parents surgery coming up, if we have issues keeping her in one spot (as opposed to sneaking in other patients rooms) we will at least have a way to contain her.
We will continue to work on walking (instead of running) and on hand holding.
So after much debate we went with the cute little pink piggy. She does like it!
The piggy is actually a backpack too!
If you look close at this picture on the right side you can see toothy number 5 poking through! They are coming up like crazy now!
Last week I did finger coils, see below... Then last night was hair night again, and apparently I had used a bit too much conditioner on the finger coils because they were coming out... We decided that Addy may be part Unicorn! And picture 3 was taken in the middle of her new do!

I promised a video!
Here is a snapshot of our evening tonight and all of Addy's new found talents.
It took me a few moments to figure out why she was circling me at the begining until I realized that she wanted to see the viewer on the video camera. She knows that she can see the pictures on the camera and the videos on the videocamera. Once I figured that out then you can see her and I and she is just staring at herself on the camera screen! Too cute. As she is circling, watch her eyes, she is WINKING! Ok well what we call winking is really closing your eyes really tight then squinting. She hasn't figured out the art of using one eye yet.
Then on to our rising electricity bill. On off on off. She is helpful though, if you pick her up by any lightswitch she will turn it on or off for you!
While up at Grandmas a few weekends ago we found a mini disc golf set and just had to buy it as a surprise for daddy since he is an avid disc golfer. Well daddy has now taught Miss Addy J how to play frisbee! She will go and collect them all from the basket and bring them back to you then she will take them one by one and put them back in. Guess Jared is trying to get her prepped for this summer! So Addy and I played tonight!
Enjoy the video! Oh and check out those chompers!
