Projects!

Well the year is getting off to a good start!

We went through all of the toys in the living room which is where the bulk of our toys live. We needed to make room for the new and weed out the old. So we took a bunch to the basement. Some will be sold or donated, some will be taken to Meena's house, some will go into the toy rotation, and some will live downstairs. The upstairs is now more organized. We moved the shelves around and sorted things differently. Granted it only stays like this about the first fifteen minutes of the day but every evening we pick it all up! You can't see it well in the picture but there's even two cubbies that are empty! And the basement... well thats a work in progress. Does anyone remember the show clean sweep... they take a room of someones house and put all their stuff out on their front yard and set up piles for keep, sell/donate, and trash. Then after the first round they move the keep pile sign and they have to re-go through thier keep pile and get rid of more. Well that inspired me to do my basement. We've lived here for a year and still had about 25 boxes still packed! So I emptied everything! Here's the results:
TRASH/RECYCLE:
DONATE/SELL:
KEEP:
Most of the keep pile is big toys and kids books!
So as of now, most of the keep pile is either waiting to be put away or has been repackaged into rubbermaids for storage. The donate stuff has been taken to Goodwill. The sell pile has been posted on craigslist (although this isn't a good time to sell things so if anyone is having a garage sale next summer let me know!). The trash was condensed and is being added to our weekly garbage. The recycling has been compacted and is ready to go to the recycling center when I have time. And then after Jared goes through the pile I specially laid out for him :) then we can finish and make the basement into a play area/frisbee area! I've got some other organizing that I want to do down there as well (organize the pottery/art studio, organize the storage area, etc.) and my hope is to have it all done by the end of the month!
